Summertime!!

Today it's raining so I figured it was a good day to blog! We have had such beautiful weather lately, we are spending lots of time outside. The kids have been getting lots of use out of the slip 'n slide!!
Even Marty likes it...
On Tuesday, Jeff's parents took Megs and Gabby camping overnight to a campground fairly close to home. The girls we SO excited to go. They each had packed a backpack with toys and books they want to take along. Grandma picked them up about 10am and they headed out!!
They played at the beach that day and the girls tell us they had a water fight with Grandma and Papa...so cute!! Megan had requested the meals for the camping trip. They had sandwiches for lunch, burgers for dinner and french toast for breakfast...sounds like a lot of carbohydrates to me!!
Beautiful girl!!
We talked to girls just before they went to bed that night and they were having such a fun time. But, I guess they didn't fall asleep until about 9pm that night!! Needless to say, they were tired the next day. Thank you, thank you, thank you to Grandma and Papa for investing in the lives of our kids(and in us) we are SO blessed!!
Since, we only had Marty for the night we thought we would go out on a date!! I can't believe how easy it was to only have 1 child!! We went to Red Robin for dinner and then I got an ice cream cone and we headed downtown to walk around in the sunshine...it was wonderful!! Marty had a great time too, having all our attention:)
I love when he squats like this!!
When we got home, Jeff went for a run with his friend and then they jumped in the creek to cool off!! Jeff is still running about 3 times a week...he usually does 8-10 km's. I'm trying to convince him to do some races, but he doesn't seem to interested. Jeff has been working at the Yacht Club for the last few days and yesterday it was really hot, so after work, some of the guys went in the lake for a swim. It is so nice living close to a beautiful lake!!
When Eric and Traci were here about a month ago, they took some family pictures for us. We are very fortunate to have great photographers in the family. I can't seem to get the other ones to come up...but this one is my favorite!!
I have one more little story to tell! Last week one night we had put the kids to bed and then Jeff and I went on the deck and played a game. After about half an hour we heard someone crying inside. I went inside and heard Gabby crying downstairs. I went downstairs to send her back to her room and I walked around the corner and saw her...her face and arms were covered in blood!! I freaked out a little and brought her upstairs to get Jeff's help. She wouldn't tell us what happened, we asked her if she fell and she said no, bumped into something and she said no. I cleaned her up and we saw the blood was coming from her lip. It looked like 4 distinct cuts. Well, Jeff went inside to see if he could find something out and he said the house looked like a murder scene...blood in the ensuite, down the hallway, on the walls, etc.!! I guess Gabby had gone in the ensuite to go pee and she found my razor and was shaving her mustache...just like daddy!! What a girl:)
I think that's all I have to update today!! Hope you have a great weekend.

Camping in Osoyoos

We have been away for the last 5 days...camping in Osoyoos!! We had a blast and it was HOT HOT HOT the whole time.

Our campsite...
We camped at a beautiful campground right on Osoyoos lake. We went with 2 other families and there were 6 adults and 7 kids between us. The weather was so nice, and I hate to say it, but maybe even a little too hot. We were very thankful for the lake, so we could cool down a bit. We pulled Isaac and Jen's boat and we spent lots of time on the lake.
We arrived at the campsite in the early afternoon on Wednesday and set up camp. We had a really nice site with lots of shade and close to the lake and the bathrooms! Marty didn't nap in the truck on the drive and by the time we set up camp it was probably 3pm...so he didn't have a nap that day. But, he was still happy and went to bed really quickly!

The boys loving the sand...
After we set up camp, we all headed down to the lake to cool down! I was so proud of the girls for how brave they were in the water. I think it helped that the lake was so warm.
Out for a boat ride...
Jeff and Megan slept in our little tent and I slept in the camper with Gabby and Marty. I think it worked out quite well. Although, Jeff and I are not used to sleeping with the kids and they move around a LOT at night!
Gabby was excited to sleep in the bunk bed with me...
I hadn't waterskied in many years, so I wanted to try again. The first time I tried I got up on the 4th time and the second time I skiied, I got up the first time. I was pretty happy about that!

Hanging out in the dingy...he was NOT a fan of the water!! He doesn't like to be cold:(
We found a really cool sandbar in the lake and parked the boat and just hung out in the water. The kids loved being with their friends.
Our wonderful men...
Each family did a breakfast and dinner during the days we were there. It made it much easier for planning and bringing groceries. We had some delicious food...steak, chicken, salmon, potato salad, pasta salad, tacos, cheesecakes, etc.

Camping is not complete without s'mores...
We would feed the kids dinner and then put them to bed and then just the adults would have dinner together. It was wonderful to have uninterrupted conversations!! We are so blessed to have such amazing friends. The couple that makes dinner comes up with a few discussion questions every night...it is so fun and we learn more and more about each other.
The boys went boating/water skiing every morning and every evening while the water was calmer! Jeff went for a couple of runs while we were there...even in the smokin' hot weather.
We were having fun taking some family photos in the water...
We had such a great time with incredible friends and memories!! Can't wait to do it again next year...
