Smiles

I can hardly believe it, but Gabby is starting to smile now. She is getting so big!! Last week at the doctor's office she weighed 10 lbs 4 oz. She was 7 lbs 8 oz when she was born. She's a pretty good eater. In the last few days she is smiling more and more. She especially likes to smile for Megan!! Megan loves to play in her jungle gym with her and talk to her. It's like they have their own language. Gabby always calms down when she hears Megan talking.
Gabby was so frustrating for me last night. I tried to feed her at about 9pm and she wouldn't feed and she starting screaming for about 40 minutes. Nothing I did calmed her down. Finally she fell a sleep because she was so exhausted. I did give her some gripe water because I didn't know what to do. She did sleep pretty good at night which was nice for me. She still has been waking up only once at night and I love that!!
Next week Megan turns 2 years old!! I can't believe my baby is growing up so fast. We are having a little party for her with 4 of her other 2 year old friends and their parents. They are all boys!! We are having a potluck dinner and then some birthday cake. It should be fun. Hopefully with weather will be nice and we can have the party outside. Megan loves to help "burp" Gabby these days. She is such a good helper!!

Jeff has been doing some more landscaping in our backyard this weekend. We took out our garden and he built a wall and we filled it with landscape rocks, it looks really good. Our yard is starting to look better now with all the work Jeff has done!! Next year maybe we will start working on the front yard. One thing at a time as it gets expensive and time consuming.
This is a before picture of the garden...
This is part ways through the project. It's not quite done yet. I will post more pictures of the finished product.

Well that's all for now. I need to go feed my daughter!

Baby Showers!!

We have been SO blessed by our friends and family!! Jeff's baseball team had a baby shower for us last Saturday night. We had lots of appies and pizza and chicken and dessert. It was great!! They gave Megan her first baseball glove and hat. She was very excited to try it out. Then we went to watch Jeff's team play baseball this week and Megan loved it. She would cheer for her daddy when he was up to bat. They gave Gabby a little outfit and they gave me money to get may nails done. I was totally excited!!

This was first thing in the morning - Megs has crazy hair in the mornings!!

Then my work staff had a baby shower for us last night. The girls totally spoiled us and we got lots of really cute clothes and some toys. Megan was checking out all the gifts when I came home last night. Last weekend we had a great mothers day. We had my parents over for a greek meal and we went for a walk to the park. On the way home from the park my mom stepped on a broken beer bottle and she had to go to the walk in clinic to get it checked out. She didn't have to get stitches and they made it back to our house in time for dinner. Megan is loving the park these days. This week we went to the park almost every day. She cries sometimes when we leave :( Today we went for a walk with Jeff's mom on the greenway and then we played at the park again!! Gabby sleeps so well in the snugli when we go for walks.

We have no real plans for the long weekend. Jeff is working on some landscaping in the backyard. We are getting rid of our garden and making a little deck there instead. Someday we hope to put a hottub there - when the house is paid off!! We are all getting over our colds now, although Gabby still sneezes alot and seems a little congested. But, we are definitely on the mend!!

Gabby was one month old yesterday and I can't believe how the time flies. I can notice that she is getting bigger. She has been sleeping really well and usually only gets up once in the night between 2-3am. And then she sleeps until 6am and I feed her and she's down again until about 9am. She does seem to fight going to sleep in the evening though. I tried to get her to sleep last night from 9pm until about 10:30pm. She was just wired!! I think maybe she was overtired because she hadn't slept much in the evening yesterday.

I think that's all for now. I hope you all have a great long weekend!!

Springtime!!

I have been sick most of this week. It all started with a sore throat on Saturday and has gotten progressively worse. Now I have a cough and a constantly runny nose. I am just hoping and praying that the girls don't get sick. Jeff already said he has a little bit of a sore throat :( We have stayed home pretty much everyday this week because I haven't felt like doing anything. We did venture out for a walk on Tuesday, my first walk alone with the 2 girls. I had Gabby in the snugli and Megs in the stroller. It worked out great!! Yesterday my mom and a family friend came over for a visit and then mom and I took the girls for another walk.

Megan has been totally obsessed with bubbles lately. She asks for them all the time. Now she wants to blow the bubbles herself, but in doing so she licks the bubble wand and I don't really want her to drink bubbles!!!

We have been playing outside lots the last few days because the weather has been SO nice!! I love this spring weather, except it's not great when you are sick!!My sister and her family were up for this past weekend and they brought Megan SO many new toys that they have outgrown. Megan especially likes the play kitchen and she makes daddy "coffee" in her kitchen every day when he comes home from work. It's really cute!! They sit at the table and have coffee together.

Gabby has been doing great! Lately I have been feeding her at around 9pm and she is usually awake in the evenings from about 7-9pm. Sometimes she is a little wired just before bedtime and I fight to get her to sleep for about 1/2 hour. Last night she didn't wake up again until almost 3am!! I went in to check on her at about 2am because I wanted to make sure she was okay. She was so peaceful!! Then she was up again at 6:15am and I fed her and then she slept again until 8:30am. I have really appreciated her good sleeps this past week because I haven't felt great.
Daddy and Gabby like to have naps together!! I think Megan just woke up from her nap. So, bye for now!

Our busy life

Sorry about the delay in blogging. Life has been quite busy lately for us and I find I can not find the time to sit down and blog very often. Right now both the girls are sleeping and Jeff is running some errands.

Gabby having a nap with daddy!

We are starting to settle into life with 2 kids. Megan has been doing really well with her new sister and she always wants to hold her. It's very cute!! Gabby has been doing well and I have been able to get some good sleep. She has had 3 days in the last week where I have feed her at 9pm and she hasn't woken up until 2am. It feels so good to get a little bit more sleep at one time. She slept too much in the day yesterday and she didn't want to sleep much last night, we will try to change that. This week I painted Megan's toenails for the first time. I had to buy the nail polish that dries in 60 seconds or she would touch it. She managed to touch her toenails in less than 60 seconds, but I think they still look pretty good. She is very proud of them and wants to show everyone her pink toenails.

Aunty Jassie and Uncle Warren came home from New York last weekend and came over for brunch and to visit Gabby and Megan. Jassie spoiled us all with gifts from their trip!!
Yesterday we had playdates with some of Megan's friends - Cooper, Malachi and Tyler. Megan has a lot of "boy" friends. Megan likes to observe while the boys play. My sister and her family came up for the weekend and they came over this morning and brought Megan LOTS of new toys that they have outgrown. Megan really likes the new kitchen and she always wants to make us coffee. Tonight we are going to my parents house for a BBQ dinner. It's a nice day out today and so we might take the kids to the park to play. Bye for now!!
